Raila Odinga Sworn in a Kenyan Premier

|
More Unrest

|
Yeah Right!

I have stated before and will continue to state that I feel very strongly that neither of these men is suited to lead Kenya and for various reasons which I have mentioned before, but I am still getting some blowback from people saying that I am a tribalist. Now I know the people saying this don't know me very well because as a Kikuyu I am pretty much the worst example. I am often confused for every other tribe but Kyuk and I don't know how that is even possible since I don the most Kyuk forehead in the upper Midwest.. Secondly my skills when it comes to communicating in my vernacular are atrocious at best and bordering nonexistent. That said I love Kenya and Kenyans, but tribal ties and lines don't play a factor when it comes to seeing the real truth.
I feel very strongly that Kibaki rigged the election in his favor, so do a lot of people. What people fail to point out is that the results that came from Raila’s home area were obviously inflated and rigged as well. The fact is that both candidates and their parties are "guilty" of this, it's just that Kibaki did a better job of it, just like you would expect any good African Head of State to do.
Some people claim that Kibaki's alleged rigging brought about the ensuing violence, and this is just a simple minded person’s argument and if you believe that then you are as dense as the rest of those simple minded people. The flawed election results were the results of the rigging.... full stop, end of story. The maiming, murdering, raping, looting and burning or innocent people and their possessions was just some other simple minded people taking advantage of the situation. In all seriousness you cannot justify in any way, form, shape or manner the burning of a church full of innocent people, or the raping and killing of a innocent 9 year old girl on flawed election results, it's ridiculous. This is just plain and simple blood lust, something I feel that Raila and leading members of the ODM party fully backed knowingly, and if you subscribe to this thought process then as I mentioned before you are a very simple minded person, blood thirsty person. They were several different ways the flawed elections results could and should have been handled, the violence that was perpetrated by those criminals was not one of them. I figure if you still claim this was a justifiable resolution to the flawed results and want to be titled just another "savage" African then you voted for the right person in Raila. True, both sides have been cited as sanctioning some form of violence, hopefully one day we shall find out the extent of the leaders involvement in these criminal acts.
Someone mentioned that 60% of the country voted for Raila, I don't know where people are pulling these numbers from but as it stands Kibaki won the election, and if nothing changes this will be what will written in the history books for all time, flawed results or not. This another reason why I think Raila is a total idiot, he should have challenged this in the courts and but instead he went with sustaining the violence hoping that would force the government relinquish the presidential victory, I can only shake my head at this, the level of stupidity in the plan is beyond words. I guess the going rate to become Prime Minister 1500 souls, the families of those affected can be consoled in that fact.

F*ing Good Time!
I had a blast in San Diego people, partially due to the great events and the rugby but primarily due to the great company from the realest people on Earth, that being the Minnesota Crew and all the familiar faces from days back I met in San Diego.
The last time I was in California, I shit you not, I remember flying in and flying out...well that is not quite true...I do remember getting directions from a homeless man who had no shirt on and had paper bags wrapped around his hands pushing a shopping cart, at 2:00 am in the morning....OK there are some other vague alcohol related memories in there as well but a LOT of blank spaces, but this time was way different, I remember it all, I did not drink myself to a stupor, I actually spent less time behind the camera this time and enjoyed the people and atmosphere.
Below is an example of what I'm talking about, at this point I would like to digress for a moment, events of this magnitude bring about a sea of personalized t-shirts some of which are very clever and some of which are downright annoying. For example, I saw a shirt that read "Am a Kenyan...", now if you read any amount of the text on this web site, there are bound to be mistakes, due to the amount of years not being in an English class coupled with the copious amounts of Bacardi consumed over the last few years, but I have a sort of excuse in the fact that I deal with a lot of text and mistakes will occur, but what is the excuse here, it is only 3 words long and I am not an English teacher but I am convinced that this sentence is entirely wrong. What I suggest is that if you have your receipt handy get a refund or don't go out in public with that on your back least people think that you are "special".

Apparently Nameless was eventually paid for this and to be honest it's a pretty nice and glossy video. Maisha by Nameless reformulated by the South African trio Jamali

This was already on everyone's mind and now international organizations like the Human Rights Watch investigations are bringing to light the truth about the heinous crimes perpetrated by ODM.
From BBC
Human Rights Watch says members of President Kibaki's Kikuyu community were targeted following the announcement of his victory.
Their researchers spoke to member of the rival Kalenjin group, who said they were mobilised by their leaders to attack and loot Kikuyu-owned shops and businesses.
Local ODM officials and Kalenjin leaders "arranged frequent meetings following the election to organise, direct and facilitate the violence unleashed by gangs of local youth", HRW said.
One ODM official provided a lorry to ferry youths to attack Kikuyus, it said.
"If the leaders say stop, it will stop immediately," one Kalenjin elder said.

From BBC Asked if he would urge his supporters to calm down, Mr Odinga told the BBC: "I refuse to be asked to give the Kenyan people an anaesthetic so that they can be raped."
Raila "toured" a Nairobi morgue where children's bodies (viewer discretion is advised) were piled on top of each other and I am wondering whether he is man enough to tell the parents, friends and family of those children that he was speaking on behalf of those dead children when he made those incredibly self serving and what I believe criminal comments. I am not surprised that there are people calling for the "leaders" of ODM to be charged with genocide. Statements like the ones Raila made are done for a simple purpose which is to insight more violence, which will lead to the loss of more lives, lives like those of the innocent children stacked on top of each other in some cold mortuary in Nairobi. If you feel differently, take one look at the photo and unless you lack any sense of humanity or share the same condition that Raila has and have an empty hole where your heart is meant to beat, you will obviously be moved.
The truth is that members of the "leadership" at ODM have finally called for peace but still reject to meet for peace talks and yet insist on having a protest rally, which in such a tense situation would only result in more violence! It's way too little too late and again I focus your attention to the lifeless, cold, dead bodies of the children in that Nairobi morgue. Any beliefs that Raila was any sort of leader have been completely dismissed! Kenyans have been raised with the strong values of Peace, Love and Unity. In his statements, Raila is rejecting all these values, and as such it only goes to reason that Raila is not remotely capable or qualified to lead a country that has been based with the strong positive principles mentioned above.

Smiles and Death :: Kenya's "Leaders"
When people are in the streets chanting "No Raila! No Peace!" and Raila as a "leader" does not take swift and positive actions to alleviate the situation and distance himself from the hate, violence and negativity that is associated with those people who are part of the violence and in fact makes inflammatory statements to worsen the situation, demonstrates the highest levels of incompetence. Well, before this election, I was called out for being anti-Raila and it's because of his previous actions that I was skeptical about his abilities as a leader, not a politician, as they are not the same thing. Raila does not do the right thing! Especially in this case when it mattered most, when Raila could have demonstrated to the country and the world as a whole what leadership abilities he possessed, He Totally Failed, ergo he will never be a good leader. Why should we as Kenyans accept this?
Believe me, Kibaki is not any better as a leader and does not deserve to be leading the country for several reasons but the biggest difference is the approach taken by the two leaders, although Kibaki's ethics, morality & presidency are in question, he chose Peace! I can assure you that those 300 plus people who are dead, their friends and family and all those displaced after this mess would take the peaceful route. There are other avenues that should have been taken, violence was not the first option and this will resound in history and for a "leader" to even hesitate for a moment and let the violence and the murder of innocent people to continue to further their political ambition is simply unacceptable, disgusting, disappointing and shows total lack of character. It's quite sickening for Raila to "tour" the morgue to see the handy work of the people chanting his praises, this shows how sick, inhumane and bloodthirsty Raila is.
Kibaki too should be put on notice for not doing enough and nothing in some cases about the ongoing violence. He needed and still needs to really step up and act like the leader he has positioned himself to be. He is simply not doing enough and waiting for the opposition to come to the peace table is not an answer or excuse as to why Kenyans are dying and taking on refugee status. We need real leaders and our country back, but these two gentlemen have clearly demonstrated that although they may start the healing process, they are clearly not the final solution that Kenya needs. |

Election Updates
Counts have been suspended until Sunday due to violence erupting in the city, the BBC pictures and video on the election that is bringing the best out of everybody. We shall have to wait and see who will be the eventual winner and consequently the person who will lead the charge to clean up the aftermath and hopefully return law and order to an already detiorating situation.

Not For The Faint Hearted
My brother directed to this rather "educational" article. It's nothing offensive but I would suggest reading it in your own private time (and don't eat before watching just a suggestion). It just goes to show that those dudes on X-Files were not so far off.

Look what I got!!!!!

Yeah, I know.... I sound a little too mushy but I will make a bet with anybody out there, if you have ever said these words, "I have the custest niece/nephew in the world!" I can prove you entirely wrong. Once you meet the Muthoni and Kinuthia team, you will know the reason why. Muthoni's picture was posted here almost 2 years ago, Kinuthia is just a few months old and still getting to know the environment around him. Soon he will learn that his father has blessed him with the most Kikuyu forehead I have seen in a minute (and I see myself in the mirror each day!). |
100 Most Influential Kenyan's (including me!)

After reading the list of the 100 most influential Kenyan's, I was deeply hurt and disappointed by the rankings. I was so sure I was going to make it to the top of the list, not just because I am a big deal, but after all bribes I paid out
and all the favors I had to pull (some consisted of some awkward positions...very embarrassing ....photos coming later!) I for sure thought I would be WAY up at the top. Anyway I am sort of over that, but it's funny though that they separated the business personalities from the politicians....like there's a f*ing difference when it comes to Kenya! It's a job and they are banking more seriously than most "business" folks. Since they are including the dead Kenyan's like Moi, why don't they include the other past influential's like the 1st president of Kenya? Oh wait I am being told something by my girlfriend....What! Moi is not dead?....No, are you sure cause I had heard....Not yet.....then they should have some sort of age limit. |

"The Pain Abroad"
The Pulse is as the saying goes a mixed bag of nuts, before they had been an enjoyable way to pass time but about couple of years ago they really slimmed down the magazine, now it's just one article and at times the solo article is not worth a read. The story they did on Kenyan artists tours abroad was one of the better reads but it was still riddled some untruths, generalizations & speculation...but that what makes it so tasty. One thing that did stand out was the way that America was described as "the world of American bread and butter". If you are in Kenya and an average Kenyan & reading this article just be assured that you will have to work your fingers to the bone for that "bread and butter" ( the sad thing is that this misconception is still perpetrated in this day and age). That is why when fans get burnt by poor performances or below par event locations it stings and they will let the promoters know this the next time by not showing up.
There is plenty of blame to be passed around...
The Organizers: - Having the events held in sub standard locations, with poor sound & lighting and charging East Africans an arm will not win you any points.
The Artists: - If I have chucked $30 and above for you to come on stage & act like you are doing me a favor, then shit you have just lost a fan. You would expect more than a half ass concert from a artist who looks like she/he is not even happy to be there & then go on stage for a mere 30 minutes, then call it a night. A great example was when that idiot Mr. Nice came to the Twin Cities & proceeded to have a temper tantrum/menopause meltdown on stage over some B.S. and on my f*ing dime, that was just special.
The Fans: - We as fans have one way of getting the message across to the Artists & Organizers, which is with our wallets (& purses). We have to stop being complacent, when we are informed the concert is going to be in a hole in the wall, don't go. The message will eventually get across, we need better locations and better shows. |

Summer Splash 2007
I had a blast a usual during Summer Splash, but the only difference this time was that I did not have my handy camera with me this season so I will apologize ahead of time for the lack of pictures, and I did not make as many events as I wanted too because previous commitments (work) had a brother pinned down.
Anyhow I am sure I spotted King Kevo taking quite a few pics so soon enough those will be on his site.

Nairobi Explosion
It's really sad to see that Kenya and Kenyans are still targets of these idiotic fanatics and their weapons. From early reports it seems it's just the suicide bomber who was killed, but dozens were injured in the explosion. For details visit the following Kenyan news channels.
